Her fractured smiles
jarring breaths
vacant stares
Scares them away
Spitting on her shadow
Running before they know
She’s okay
Butterflies in her stomach
Turn to ash
Their wings torn
Voices in her head
Screaming
That she should
Never have been born
Tears stained black
Seep into his shirt
To remind her
She’s not empty yet
Her poison
Blows out his candles
And he wishes
They’d never met
