Dripping

Rain fell on the window on my first day on the earth,

Dripping into every crack,

Cracks like those the moonlight shone through on my first night,

Dripping like the first hot tears down a baby\'s cheek

Hot like the water that poured into my first bath,

Dripping like the tap as I watched with curiosity,

Curiosity like I felt the first time my finger dripped with blood,

Dripping like the hot tears down a pained child\'s cheek

Pain like I felt the first time I fell,

In the rain that had dripped on the cold metal grid,

Metal like the knife that cut through my skin,

Dripping like the blood on the glass shower screen

Glass like the vessel that took thoughts away,

Thoughts of both the darkest nights and the golden days,

Golden like the liquid that dripped on my tongue,

Dripping like the hot tears down a lost man\'s cheek

Rain fell on umbrellas on my first day in the earth,

Dripping through the cracks in the pine wood box,

Cracks like those I made in the stool I kicked aside,

Dripping like the hot tears down a grieving woman\'s cheek
