ANGELA & BRIAN

HARVEST IN 19th CENTURY AMERICA ๐Ÿงก ANGELA & BRIAN ๐Ÿ’™

HARVEST IN USA IS CALLED THANKSGIVING ~ CELEBRATED IN NOVEMBER

Heap high the Farmers Wintry hoard ~ High heap the golden CORN

No richer gift has Autumn poured from out her lavish HORN !

WE better love the hardy gift our gold wheat fields bestow

To cheer us when the storm shall drift our harvest fields with SNOW !

WE sowed the seed o*er hill & plain beneath the Sun of May

And frightened from our sprouting grain marauding Birds away !

All through the long bright days of June its leaves grow green & fair

And waved in hot Midsummers noon its soft & yellow hair !

And now with Autumns moonlit eves ~ its Harvest time has come

We separate the Ear from stalk and bear the Harvest home !

There richer than the fabled gift ~ Apollo showered of old

Fair hands the ripened grain shall sift ~ and kneed its meal of GOLD !
