Tune: Aurelia
(\'The church\'s one foundation\')
********
You birds who sit aloft, high
Or church steeple fly by
You rest a while, and e\'en you
Are welcome too, \'tis true
For even sparrows find house
In church, with tiny mouse
They shall be in harmony
For God does dwell there, see
You look o\'er graveyards, where lay
Saints faithful in their day
And memories and moments
That ne\'er do depart hence
O what your musings, your songs?
You join the heavenly throngs
Of angels, and all on earth
To give your Maker worth
\'Neath your wings \'tis a building
Church, which from praises ring
Praising the Lord and Saviour
His praise fades not one hour
You humble creatures, sing you
Join your voices anew
With humans to glorify
The One who ne\'er shall die
All things do surely Him praise
Throughout their length of days
In wisdom He has made all
And hears who on Him call
Give us grace to conserve, see
Your care-takers we be
Appointed by you to serve
Though nothing we deserve
