Oh, how life should it be
Oh, how wrong the crimpled faces
Damning and daring the plot
And our hearts all fall into pieces
Where the lost was never blinded
And as the world came to a halt
Where on this planet in different places
And in all those places we never see
But, to trust in a make-belief of dreams
Why the wishing-well drops so deep
To blush upon a ladies penny
To dream of the dreams, you keep
And to throw away a life too far
And to be left without anybody
Except you, me and some sparkling stars.
Isn\'t it a stroke of unjust
Whilst the heart led far away from life
Sharing this moment until heartbeats fade
From where loving had learned to trust
And there are some people who die
And there are those people who wonder why
Why rainbows flutter underneath a sunshine shade
Although the scars go un-noticed
And the smile remains to flake
But, yet, still, the mourning few alone
Dressed in all black with long black silk gloves
Where life had suddenly turned to stone
Whilst we celebrate life and love at the wake
Again with our companions without protest
Who flew over the ocean to believe in its trust.
Isn\'t love actually forgotten
Isn\'t love a joke
How we start to love it right
If the Queen fell for a new bloke
And too much love may kill us all
The lovers, the poets and our heartfelt rights
From looking outside your window
The plant pot was left out to cry
Inside the places, we hit rock bottom
And yes, we are all in this thing together
We are all in it for ourselves
And as everyone runs for the exit door
To let them all go and just leave myself
That in all our hearts we will love forever
And that message in a bottle opens upon the shore.
Now upon the belief of pain
Where faces smiling sadly printed on paper
We all must join in with the communal entity
To procrastinate and leave it till later
For our time compares no-one else to complete
Or our wishes we dream of tonight
And until our love does the same
And in light of what people have to say
We\'ll keep it clean and tidy until they leave
Leaving in memory your heart broken love
A painful time to render when we all grieve
And as I watch you try to pray high above
On clouds of bloom, you\'ll get away someday
To shine upon that belief of yours so clearly
And make love fall into a place so dearly.
I may ask you this question
I may answer you not
To emerge from what was drowned
And to discover what was lost
Starting from this corner of mine
Why the spirit in you I found
And those happy smiling children
Who always wore worn-out adult shoes
And tears cascading down their tiny cheeks
And skin so grainy they gave us the sad news
For another generation generated poverty
Without schooling, without dreams of hope
With a pencil, they plan to learn to write poetry
And in this world, we could show them all love
And to remember that their love is for keeps.
\"Isn\'t life a joke
Isn\'t the whole world a stage
Why we all live in 2 different worlds
And we all have many tongues
And many kinds of faces
Why there\'s a face for all-around in the crowd
There\'s a face in front of our newspapers
And there\'s a face we know when we close the doors
It seems we all see the sunshine in front of everyone
But, that night when our masks are off
And we\'re all by ourselves
We see ourselves as we are
Nothing but pretenders pretending
And I will keep pretending
Pretending as the world goes on\".
