TO A MOUSE ~ ROBBIE BURNS

THIS IS BURNS FAMOUS POEM ~ ITS A SATIRE AGAINST THE HIERARCHY WHO TURNED THE CROFTERS OUT OF THERE HOUSES FOR REDEVELOPMENT

Please watch the VIDEO ! It is recited in Auld Scots and then in Modern English  to enable you to better understand the Poem. This Poem is oft recited @ BURNS SUPPERS (25th Jan) but ne*er wi* a Translation ! Lang may yer lum reek !

English translation of the last two stanzas ~ It could be a comment on BREXIT !

Poor Mousie thou art not alone

In proving foresight may be vain

The best laid plans o* Mice an* Men

Go oft astray

An* leave us naught but grief & pain

For promised Joy

Still thou art blessed compared with Me

The present only touches Thee

But O I backward cast my eee

On prospect drear

And forward though I cannot see

I guess an* fear

Wit apologies to Robbie and the Scots !

Thanks for visiting ~ comments welcome ~ Love BRIAN & ANGELA ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’™

I (BRIAN) studied Poetry at School and we had Scots Teachers who taught us how to pronounce Burns in Auld Scots.  I have proposed the Toast to the Immortal Bard at Burns Suppers and had the opportunity to read / recite some of the Poems including *To A Mouse*. The HAGGIS has to be piped in and *The Address to the Haggis* has to be recited ~ with actions. This is a key part of any Burns Supper ! If you are born in Liverpool you are part Scots - Welsh - Irish & English !
