Saxon Crow

Walking in the woods

Into the woods my daughter and I

Armed with sticks and her keen eyes

I know the way! her feet show us

And then we stop and look

Beneath a giant fir

She chooses a staff and gets one for me

And off we walk... to the very next tree

Once again she looks to the ground

And picks up a feather, the third she has found

Her curious nature finally appeased

On we walk to yet another tree

She uproots the leaves and twigs

And then she finds a little bug

She crouched down to scoop it up

However, I take over to save our little friend

From being squashed by excitable hands

Instead he\'s placed upon my palm

And I show my daughter to be careful and not harm

The moment is gone and off she walks

Past the next tree, \'yay\' I thought!

But then she stops and turns around

Looking at the tree and hearing the sounds

A robin is singing, I think for a date

Hoping it will turn into his next mate

But my daughter just stares enthralled with it all

Until a squirrel runs by and she squeaks and then points.

A walk in the woods with my daughter is cool

We don\'t get very far but then she\'s not even two!
