Saxon Crow

The Greenman

I wear this earth of root and stone

As I wear this skin of vein and bone

The thunder in the midnight sky

Beats to the sound of my heart, in time

The winds that blow through these ancient lands

Are the air I breathe from these eternal lungs

The rains that fall and quench this place

Are the tears I shed upon my face

Every quake that jolts awake the earth

Are the steps I take as I walk this world

The stones they call to me and sing

The trees bow down at my very whim

The sun it greets me as its eldest friend

And the moon she knows just who I am

The birds, the animals all know my name

All love and fear what I create

All except the curse of man

Whose arrogance took you on a different path

The green turns grey through your lowly wisdom

And your blindness grows with every season

Remember me as the friend I am

Return to the ways of this ancient kingdom

For the old ways, like Spring are forever new

Just call out my name and be born anew
