AJ

thin skin

It rains in the empty, long night

Where heartbreak hits me

With every drop on my skin

And I’m cold,

I’m always cold

The time between the times

When graveyards look appealing to me

Is wasting away

You know, I think of just lying down

There, here,

Because tomorrow is murky like jade

I’ve tried a thousand times

To understand it, and that pulling in my chest

Comes like clockwork, like waves

And a wearied state is that of expecting pain

The little fractures

Hairlines on my hopeful heart

Are tender

Where scar tissue has been torn again

And again

And I’m so sorry, because I’m so tired

I’m so cold
