She was safe in her mind
When the world didn’t want her.
Seemingly desolate,
Yet hope burned within.
A hope that one day,
The universe would love her.
A hope for the day
A million stars warm her skin.
A hope that she hung on;
A wrecking ball on a thread.
Such a fragile hope
Burning brighter than a warhead.
Yet time planted vengeance
And vengeance brought pain.
And as the pain bleeds out,
Inside comes the rain.
She was safe in her mind
Back when she stayed curled.
Her mind was safe in her,
Until she didn’t want the world.
