Saxon Crow

The Wind and Me

As I stand on this desolate heath

Upon this sea of green

My friend the wind comes running by

And shouts out follow me

I breathe him in and feel his life

Waking up my soul

So off I run upon this field

With the wind, my friend, in tow

With childlike abandon

And no restraint

The wind is running free

And me beside him keeping up

Wondering what we’ll see

A sudden flourish of colour and wing

And a trill of noise and song

A skylark raises from the brushes

Chirping on and on

This little bird belies the strength

And courage of his heart

He sings for all the world to see

That he’s braver than anyone

But then the wind tugs at my arm

And off we go again

Two friends together

Dancing and laughing

Simply having fun

Oh how I wish I could describe to you

Everything we see

For the wind brings life and movement

Upon this sea of green

So my friend has a request to ask of you

To go and visit him one day

Because of all the things that he could show you

He will show you how to play
