A tattered umbrella in the dampness of spring
Seemed fitting for me
Until we discovered one another
And you offered sanctuary
A paper fan in the summer blaze
I was content to wave
Until I found you
And you brought me shade
Tracking autumn leaves behind
I adjusted to their rustle
Then you came and cleaned them off
Showed me the beauty of silence
In winter I would shiver
I was used to being cold
You found me full of chills
And wrapped me in your coat
When my soul was lost in darkness
And I settled for embers
You pulled back the blinds
And we watched the sun rise together
