Nearest.

Loving things nearest to hand

I must consider the Dandelion.

Mane of spun gold opens bands

of allure as eye and aroma align.

Fired by sun seduction attracts

passing insects intent on dining.

Bosom exposed lightening action

releases droplets of scent- design.

Seeing the spread feelers fasten

on insect nectar for feeding time.

Such a clever self-spreading ranks

as first class intelligence to admire.

Sensing feast splay an unwrapped

tongue greedily laps at artful invite.

Pollen can sweeten hidden language

because flies ignore dandelion\'s guile.

Noteworthy successful at spreading

itself this little plant stirs the fancy.

Yet no poet unbent will catch Heaven

    giving merely one indifferent glance.
