The Afterlife

A desert vast and open

And not another soul

There\'s no water left for you

Not a drop to make you whole

From a plane high in the sky

You will begin the drop

And there\'ll only be the ground

That can make you stop

An ocean endlessly deep

Beneath there\'s not a sound

There\'s loads of helpless swimming

Right up until you\'ve drowned

All events to end a life

Before remains are burnt to ashes

Or perhaps a coffin in the ground

Before life\'s illusion smashes

Except you\'ve been in the afterlife

Longer than you were alive

You\'ve been personally acquainted

With the grim reaper and his scythe

You died a long time ago

Beneath an infant sun

It all ended up crashing down

That game you thought you\'d won

Life\'s a distant memory

You don\'t know how long you\'ve been here for

Hours and days and weeks and years

You wish you\'d known before

It all seemed so much brighter then

Life was bright and full of colour

Not this dull, lifeless grey

Now there\'s naught else to discover

There is no turning back now

To try would make you a fool

You can see al that came before

It\'s behind a towering wall

You may be deep in the afterlife

But you\'re not dead yet so don\'t pretend

There might be nothing else to come, however

You live all the way until the end
