Taking in Water
Within a matter of moments
of our being hit
We started taking in water
Like nobodies business
But refused point blank
to go down
Of that I feel certain
the Captain said with a frown
I note a light on the hillside
going round and around
Take charge of these oars son and
for heavens sake hold your head high
There’s a fire on the horizon
where we shall eventually warm and get dry
Then there’s ale and salt brisket
to be had in the tavern
Take heart lad
let’s see what tuppence can buy
