As summer fades to grey,
Autumn brings its dampened chill.
Across the glade two figures lay,
huddled \'mongst the frozen daffodils.
One lies broken winged; in grief,
for from the ground she cannot rise.
The other keeps her warm—safe—
from her, never lifts his eyes;
Cannot forsake his mate,
he will not lose this love.
So stays as the frost abaits,
and songs sound above.
