TODAY WE TAKE CUTLERY FOR GRANTED ! Usually Stainless Steel (13% Chromium) never rusts. Even in a Motorway Quick Stop Caff we expect a decent set of throwaway K F S (plastic or wood) strong enough to cut the *food*. American Finger Food ~ is not really British ! It was not always thus and the Video explains the Evolution of modern cutlery. We love to visit Stately Homes and see a Dining Room set out in all its Glory. The correct alignment of Knife - Fork & Spoon.
A Spoon for the Soup and a Knife for the Fish
And or Meat ~ which is served in a piece on your Dish.
Never put Knife in mouth ~ in London or York
To pick up your Food (not fingers) ~ a FORK !
You need another shaped Spoon for Dessert
And a Cheese Knife & Fork ~ should that be served.
