Lingering
In the air above my bed
As I lie here still
You haunt me
Like the voices in my head.
I can’t rid of your evil
No matter how hard that I try,
It’s a powerful addiction,
A lovely little lie.
When I am in pain
You turn into comfort,
Arms so strong and loving.
When I am stressed
You release the tension;
A comforting massage
Upon my desperate body.
When I need love
You warm me like a blanket;
Such unconditional love,
Or so it seems.
I’m wrapped in the smoke,
So beautiful,
The turmoil,
So ugly,
The demon of death that nestles deep within my lungs.
Lingering
In the air above my bed
As I lie here still
You haunt me,
Like the voices in my head.
I can’t rid of your evil
No matter how hard that I try,
It’s a powerful addiction,
A lovely little lie.
