Distracted by a daydream
Whilst wallowing in the grey
I caught a glimpse of something
I had lost along the way
It looked like I should know it
Like it belonged to me
It painted a smile upon my mouth
And whispered, you are free
I wondered should I chase it
As it flew across the sky
I wondered should I pin it down
And dissect it till I die
Instead I put away my scalpel
And the questions in my head
I listened to the birdsong
And it emptied all the dread
I waited in the daisies
Until the break of day
You planted me into the earth
And I wondered would you stay
Just another daisy dancing on the earth
If you pulled me from this ground, would I disappoint you with my worth?
