WE SHOULD POINT OUT ~ That this Poem is a Parody ! Angela & I both Play Tennis and missed the thrills & spills of WIMBLEDON this year. Its the Long Rallies that some find tedious. The video shows a Rally of 2.5 minutes for one point ! In 1953 Roger Banister ran a mile in 3 mins 59 secs and in 1997 Ronnie O*Sullivan scored a maximum break of 147 in 5 mins 20 secs to win a Whole Frame of Snooker ! Tennis gets tedious don* it !
TENNIS IS A FUTILE GAME
No beginning & no end
BADMINTON is just the same
And PING PONG drives me round the bend !
I pat my BALL across the net
And HI-LO pats it back
A Rule that Ive not fathomed yet
The NET must not be SLACK !
In BADMINTON you use a BIRD
And Bigger Balls in VOLLEY
All these games seem quite absurd
Ult~imate Sporting Folly !
Back & Forth the object goes
The only obstacle the NET
If you miss-hit a POINT you lose
If they miss-hit a POINT you get !
In CHESS the game ends with a CHECK MATE
In SNOOKER when ~ all Balls are POTTED
In FOOTBALL ~ TIME the Game dictates
In GOLF when EIGHTEEN Holes are SLOTTED !
But these *Net Games* seem strange to me
