Tune: Bunessan

(\'Morning has broken\')

2 Corinthians 8 v.1-6

*********

Paul writes of giving to those there living

It Southern Greece, Corinth, he did bring

Them good news of the grace of God unto

Macedonian churches anew

That be Northern Greece, they in a great rial

Off affliction, though still gave meanwhile

Their abundant joy and deep poverty

Abounded to [rich] liberality

Paul bore them witness, they faithful in this

Service opportunity [they did] not miss

To their power, and even beyond they

Were willing of themselves, and did say

Take this gift we pray, take it nwo this day

So share in Christ\'s loving, giving way

Thus doing you do in fellowship share

In giving to believers, just, fair

They did more than Paul and his friends hoped for

They first gave their selves to the Lord sure

And gave their selves unto Paul and his friends

By the will of God, grace here attends

So Paul and friends to Corinth they did send

Titus, that to matters he would tend

It be money matters, deed to complete*

Plea that they welcome him, warmly greet

------

* Paul sent Titus and some others to Corinth.

The \'deed\' was to receive a monetary collection to

take to poorer believers in Jerusalem.
