I will never be ready
this April I will be 73 years old
time to get my suitcase ready
pack my best suit to look at least a bit decent
only I can’t, am neither ready nor willing
this is one trip I’m not looking forward to
don’t mind if that train leaves without me
my ticket was bought the day I was born
surely there will always be another one
am not worried about the trip itself
we are all taking it sooner or later
the timing is not convenient now
unfinished business is holding me back
there are still some wines to be drunk
some milestones to be celebrated
some forbidden fruits to be tasted
some adventures to be lived through
I guess I will never be ready
what else is new?
