Tune: Vulpius
(\'Christ is the King, O friends rejoice\')
Luke 24 v.25-32
********
It was on the Emmaus road
Jesus to two disciples showed
Lifted then was their downcast load
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!
He said them, O foolish, slow
Of heart to believe prophets so
They spoke of me what they did know
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!
Ought not Christ to have suffered these
Things with which the Scriptures agree
And enter into His glory?
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!
In Moses words and the prophets
He explained to them, no regrets
The Scriptures that speak of Him yet
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!
They drew near unto Emmaus
Said to Jesus, Abide with us
They then to sense Him glorious
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!
For He did then with them break bread
Blessed it, and as they there were fed
Their eyes were opened, Christ not dead
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia
They knew Him, but He did vanish
From their sight, not an idle wish
A resurrection showing this
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!
Thye said, Did not our hearts burn in
Us, when Jesus did start, begin
Showed Himself from Scriptures therein?
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!
