Tune: Song 1
(\'Eternal Ruler of the ceaseless round\')
2 Thessalonians 3 v.6-13
**********
Paul and his companions they did say
Words to Thessalonians in their day
Said, In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ
Withdraw from disorderly, that sufficed
For Paul and friends were not disorderly
Nor did they eat any man\'s bread for free
They worked, wrought on, with labour and travail
Toiled day and night their living to avail
So that they would not be chargeable to
Any of the people, but they did do
Their own tasks, not because they had no power
To command them to provide and endower
But they did make themselves and example
That people humbly would follow the call
That if any would not work, neither should
They eat, but seek to do the work they could
For some appeared busybodies, and they
Not work, but interfered with others day
Paul did exhort by the Lord that they live
Quietly, earn own living, and too give
To help poor and needy, be well-doing
Gifts offer, but not by compulsion bring
So praying, \'rogare\', to ask of the Lord
That He give us daily bread, true His word
