The Graveyard at Sea

For thousands of years

Man has sailed upon the sea

From fisherman to explorers

In search of their bounty

Out on the seas

There’s a lady that sings

The song of a temptress

All sailors heed the calling

The smell of salt in the air

How the Sun rises and falls

On the horizon waves

Still, they follow the sirens call

The ships captain commands the wheel

Though danger at every turn

His inner fire of conquest

Eternally it burns

As the stormy waves

 Become monsters in the night

The safety of land

Nowhere in sight

With desperate prayers

Of captain and crew

To see their families again

More birthdays too

Out there on oceans of peril

Where destiny rolls the dice

Between life and death

The ultimate sacrifice

And should your luck run out

You’ll be in good company

As your family stares out to

The graveyard at sea
