Akin to an inviting smile of life,
a warmth of sunlight flickers
through green woodland canopy.
Reaching down into the cooler
stillness where I am earthed.
Crouching now amid the richness
of bracken\'s spring growth
I inhale the vibration of forestness.
Stillness.
I want calm and stillness
to become fully sensually
aware of all surrounding me.
Sounds comfort my ears.
The constant mild drone
from high treetops tells
of a breeze playing above.
Gentle squeeks and groans
of trees flexing bows reach out
to a sudden flutter of speedy
passing winged disturbance.
Winged insects seek and
find interest in my presence.
I wonder shall I be fortunate
and sight perhaps a deer
or squirrel about their daily lives.
In this, the slow ever peaceful
world of woodland where
man has made no mark.
Here relaxed breathing
falls easily to mindfulness
of such wonderful gifts
of creation.
