You gave me words.
So many they tumbled out of
our lips onto pages
cracked & broken,
disjointed & muddled;
birthed from our love.
Like this book filled
with brutal truths couched
in gorgeous poetry.
I read it every night
huddled in bed,
feeling the ache from your hurt heart
through the words of another man.
The book itself is so fragile
I fear it will crumble away in my
hands &
then the words will be lost
like petals bursting from
a soft, over-ripe flower.
Your words filled my mouth like
your sex
& I
sang for you of
moonless nights & the call of the water.
When gone;
only words remain
