AnxiousMane

To My Best Friend

There is but one soul
Whose presence does not darken the sky,
Whose truth I cannot see as lies,
Whose love and companionship is oh-so-sublime.
There is but one person
Whose gaze strikes not trepidation
in my weary heart;
Whose words weigh not heavily
on my frayed, fragile mind.
He brings meaning to \"family,\" that hollow word hallowed by his smile.
We sing, we laugh, we cry.
We journey and sojourn separately, but jointly,
with one another in our thoughts.
He reminds me of the little victories that blossom,
Whose blooms cascade into flame, however dim.
By this feeble hope, I hold on to life
Long enough for obscure paths to reveal themselves.
Living up to his name, he is truly the greatest.
