twas the night of the big jungle final
all large and small drew near
to lend support to their favourite team
with a hoot a whistle and cheer
the famous football tournament
two teams who had battled so hard
would fight for the right to run around here
holding high their winners reward
the favourites to win were the elephants
sturdy and strong and steadfast
pitched against them came the insects
nimble and deft to the last
As soon as the whistle was blown
the insects were on the back foot
for elephants know instinctively
where a football\'s supposed to be put
by half time the insects were losing
fourteen nil was the story so far
the insects were simply exhausted
they\'d have to bring on their star
As soon as the second half started
they brought on their fine millipede
who ran rings all around the elephants
he could play like a storming stampede
pretty soon it was all level pegging
the elephants now all in a daze
the millipede had got them quite dizzy
running round them every which way
when that final whistle was blown
the insects had scored twenty four
the elephants were stuck at fourteen
unable to score any more
those insects ran round all triumphant
the millipede was held shoulder high
holding aloft the big winners cup
and throwing it up in the sky
a defeated sad elephant then asked
where was you throughout the first half?
it took me that long to tie my bootlaces
the millipede replied with a laugh.
