The day I laid eyes on you
I knew something had changed
Something I’d not seen coming
But it didn’t feel that strange
Like nothing else
Ever before
My life on a new path
When I passed through that door
Time stood still
The moment I saw your smile
Though I knew nothing of love
I was falling all the while
Too young to know
The implications of love
Where it would lead me
The euphoria thereof
But fate would steal you away
Without even a kiss good-bye
Leaving me to wonder
Unanswered questions of why
Fast forward fifty years
My rearview mirror still on you
Your smile still as warm
My love more than ever true
Never have I known
A love so happy and strong
But right away I knew
It would last my whole life long
