Trust

As friendships grow

The walls of security come down

As trust is earned

Mutual smiles are found

Not of physical touch

But more of a common bond

Between two or more

Confidence is won

For when a friendship can’t be trusted

Surely it becomes rusted

And now it’s busted

Right quickly then it’s ousted

Once trust is gained

Responsibility is yours

Mistreat it

You’ll take the exit door

But knowing

Someone’s got your back

Is confidence against

The trust that someone else lacks

Trust is a two-way door

It’ll work against or for you

If it works for only one

Then it doesn’t work for two

If I trust in you

And you trust in me

Then between us

Friendship we will see

But be careful

In who you trust

For there are those

Who thrive on rust
