The Freest I\'ve Felt
A dry heat.
A vast expanse.
Flat and free.
All for me.
Stagnant wind, dormant water.
No barrier, sign, or law.
Only a sea of settled dust.
Exploration was a must.
I ventured out.
It was all mine, after all.
I ruled this land of sun.
Population: 1.
I sat upon my scorched throne.
I beheld that great rock, far away.
From my office I legislated:
“Citizens, your woes have been abated!”
My rule was boundless.
I was truly, utterly free.
And though I mourn that lovely land,
I remember, fondly, its orange sand.
