Light shimmers, sweats
in the heat haze,
moving to an unknown & unheard beat.
Time twists & tumbles out of reach,
its colour bleached.
Flowers droop & wilt, sucking air;
no respite there.
I have placed myself in full glare
of sun,
so I can be reflected in your eyes.
A speck of sand
on red-hot shore,
a blip on your
radar.
Still, our two worlds collide,
generating broiling, burning, base heat.
I never wanted to disturb your sleep.
You are love &
a fixed, unchanging point;
a sun
around which to revolve,
to melt all others in your path.
I would infinitely prefer
to burn up in your wake;
sprinkle my ashes to alter your state.
You are the sun,
you are the one,
I\'m just a glimmer & a flash in the heat haze
