First so far away
a problem that wasn’t ours;
you carried pain and fear
when you landed on our shores.
Your breath took ours away
We could not run and hide;
at first you brought us close
but now you just divide.
You stole our sense of peace
our children lost their joy;
our wellbeing and health
is not all that you destroy.
Your virus spreads anew
in our souls and in our lungs;
we may now be divided
but soon we’ll rise as one.
