Yaz

Happy Birthday to Carl Yastrzemski

August 22, 1939

\"Yaz\"

The man at the plate

Wearing the Red Sox uniform

On the back, a red number 8

Carl Yastrzemski is his name

Baseball is his life and love

He’s in Cooperstown’s “Hall of Fame”

As he swings his bat with pizzazz

The fans come to their feet to cheer

He’s the man they call “Yaz”

And base runners better watch out

From left field to home plate

 He’ll throw you out

Just as Ted Williams made his mark

Yaz will live forever

In the history of Fenway Park

Now players will come and go
But not many will be

A “Triple Crown” hero

The “Green Monster” will always be his friend

Left field will never be the same

Without Yaz there to defend
