They Call Me Jealousy

I have claws as black as night,

Digging in your skin—will it hurt? (It might).

I have a smile of the sharpest teeth,

They’ll gobble you up with dreadful grief.

I have eyes that glow bright with emerald’s grasp,

And that’s why you’ll wish that I’m gone fast.

My fingertips of ash will burn through bone,

That’s enough to have you running home.

I have breath of frost and darkest night,

That alone will have you out of my sight.

I am the monster hiding in the deepest parts of your soul,

I am the part of you that will never grow old.

I am the monster hidden under your bed,

I am the part of you that you wish was dead.

I am the monster that will make you reach for the knife,

I am the part of you that will ruin your life.

I am the monster that has you ashamed,

I am the part of you that is always blamed.

I am the monster filled with Emerald’s glow,

I am the part of you that was never for show.

I am the monster who has you seeing red,

I am the part of you that you wish was dead.

When you address me; call me by my name,

The sound of it will drive any person insane.

When you address me; look me in the eyes,

Will you figure me out within my lies?

When you address me; I know you’ll cry,

Because the warrant of your actions was all a lie.

When you address me; do it right,

Otherwise ill make my way back into your sight.

I can hear you whisper my name breathlessly,

So how does it feel to be overrun with Jealousy?
