Strange Life

Hey there stranger!
Hey stranger! There you are,
Clicking of keys on the door knob alerts
Insects and rodents to quicken to their patchy hideout.
Monthly rent never eludes a loud landlord,
As a weakening and loosening door hinge awaken me from sleep with never-ending squeaks.
Toil and tears exchange batons each night when the light goes out.
Thudding, striking, and soldering, how else do I make ends meet?
Halt education and its exorbitant demands
They told me, with my excellent grades glued to their picky palms.
But I had hope of a new dew after all I had been through,
And of course it arrived with a beaming thud and a breakthrough.
I’ve been through thick and thin in life,
Now, I find myself on the other side of life,
This strange life
Scavengers, now dressed in their formal attire are set to scramble for drops of my fortune.
Oh, this strange life.
