It’s not as beautiful as they had me believe.
It’s not as kind or loving as I imagined it would be.
I’ve had enough of super hero films.
The protagonist doesn’t always win,
Sometimes the bad guys are just better.
We’ve taken our humanity and given it sides.
Dimensions of being more or less human than others.
Being alive isn’t enough, we have to live on the correct side.
Even history changes with our newfound perspectives,
Our changing moral standards.
How can we say what is right or wrong now?
What used to be right is now wrong,
And what used to be wrong is now right.
We are afraid of absolutes and their future consequences.
So we embrace subjectivity,
Because we are different, after all.
And there’s no need to bother with feeling accepted,
When we are entitled to our own perspectives.
I find beauty in difference.
We are meant to have differences.
But if we define ourselves by what’s different,
We lose common ground.
And we are also meant to have common ground.
