Once.
Once upon a gone era when
minds were carefree
and green fields were high
with adventure our
heedless heads we stuffed
with daydreaming
dares as running through
time\'s chance to test
childhood ideals we loved
excitement and
by sharing our pleasures
*
*
by trailing daisy-twines or
flying kites, taking
home tiddlers in jam jars
we sought barefoot
glimpsing Eden so feared
nothing and thought
only in moments of seeing
gold in each buttercup.
Joy was for taking once upon
a gone age made
of young laughter bound with
wonderment\'s action
before life shackled innocence
with adulthood chains.
