While above me flies the red, white and blue
The view from Strawberry Point captures my stare
The rocks, so treacherous and unforgiving
Minot Light shines to protect the living
But also a message to loved ones out to sea
Shining a light sequence of 1 - 4 - 3
The first lighthouse here fell victim to a raging storm
In 1851 two men perished, their families would mourn
The memories of Joseph Antoine and Joseph Wilson
Will live on in the lady’s loving beacon
For 9 years later, a new lighthouse would stand
From local quarries of granite, blocks laid by hand
Over many years, a lady withstands the crashing waves
Thanks be to her for all the lives she saves
The ocean seas command a powerful respect
Every sea captain knows his charts to check and recheck
And still today, Minot Light shines out to sea
A most endearing reminder of 1 - 4 - 3
