Do you know if angels celebrate birthdays?
Or when an angelic life begins?
I can only guess and wonder
Or wish for balloon-size firecracker luck
Well… fate or fairies or other spirits
Have blessed me… only I don’t know why
Sending an angel from blissful paradise
You couldn’t locate the precise coordinates of
A paradise on a compass-measured path
Aglow between blushing heaven and easter sky
Do you know if love actually burns?
Allow me if I may
Allow me to light a thousand candles
So I could warm my angel’s smile
To give her baskets of blackcurrant dreams
Or to prepare feasts of candied fruits or…
If I may be so bold I wish I could but
Humbly offer her my heart to hold
Or simply to adorn the feathers
Of her forget-me-not-interlaced wings if I may
Will my angel accept gifts?
Or simply smile at my awkward attempts
To mumble clumsily how blessed I am
My heart bursting at the seams
Freed from threads yet ready at once to beat
Between invisible walls in unison
Or I don’t know perhaps there are no barriers
Between my angel’s heart and mine…
Between its light particles and my shadowed soul
Don’t know why heaven showered so much bliss on me
Will my angel accept my clumsy
Spring-charged messages
Packaged in bundles of electrifying love?
Will my angel bless and smile
Or hum vernal songs to the newborn world?
Newly emerged from its baptismal font
Ready to blend with resurrected life
I don’t know but I am so blessed
So please accept my world-sized package
Of firecracker Love with a message in caps lock
NO RETURNS…
