When the nights are long, and your tears run dry
Have you ever wondered about leaving everything behind?
Standing on the edge of your reverie land,
You stare at the distant abyss,
As it encroaches on your meadow land
With blooming lilies and azure blue skies,
The abyss promises of dismal cries.
Of the sun kissed days and alluring nights
All painted in the shades of black and white.
When the air gets heavy, and you see the lights fade
Have you ever wondered what it is to escape?
Alone, in the haunting woods or the mighty mounts
Into the seamless vastness of the ocean grounds,
Screaming in respite
As the waves shatter the prison wall,
Drowning inside
As your soul disenthralls.
When you find yourself in a bind, with nowhere to go
Have you ever wondered what it is to let go?
Sitting by the window sill, gazing at the old vine
You recall,
How the poor tired leaves went down
In the squall,
As you descend,
Deeper
Into the embrace of the raging gale
Holding onto the last leaf, you think its fate.
And when you are cold, on a wintry night
Sitting alone on a bench under the street light
Have you ever wondered about The Eternity,
all poets write?
A peaceful slumber or a vicious trap?
You ponder,
As the lights go out in night’s enwrap
You squeeze your hands, trying to keep warm
As the heavy clouds presage, a rising storm.
You reminisce of the old sunny days,
Of the warmth long gone
As you wait alone, till the dawn.
You pause and realize;
That it is nothing but daze.
Once you are born, you are to face
Adversities bitter and sweet,
With no escape.
Diving into your reverie land
You look for respite,
Only to be jolted back
By the bleak reality
Called life
