We Were Only Youths

I deeply miss the way we used to communicate each day

Our friendship ended up like a tooth undergoing decay

Maybe we can make amends someday

Who knows?

I was there for you in your electrifying highs and your shattering lows

Our friendship had a few cons but even more pros.

Full of a high level of ignorance

We were only youths

We also were showing a large amount of innocence

Towards the end came many home truths

You know they say that ignorance is bliss

What we did have is something I tend to reminisce

Our connection eventually became a sense of paralysis

If only I could delve more deeply into your mind by using psychoanalysis.

I have lost many friends over the years

The endings of relationships have caused so many tears

I have changed for the better since we parted

I’ve often remained lonely because I struggle to get on with my peers

One day I want us to become wholehearted

To be able to recreate our friendship with a glass of pink champagne and a massive cheers
