Of Shadows And Stars

Looking at the Moon and the night sky

I feel the cold and forbidding black

Of shadows and stars

Surrounding me

And everything I know

This sensation grows

On the shore of this cosmic ocean

To know your celestial precipice

Of discovery and wonder.

Warmth of other Suns stand alone

Big mammoth beacons shine

All by themselves it seems

Sure fire gods of hydrogen

Burning bright and separate

And in between

The darkness

Chilling space

Of solitary vastness and silence.

In my imagination I travel out there

The final frontier I seek to know

An undiscovered country

An infinite, eternal sea

Expanding ever more

Out where invisible

Life and so many questions,

A tapestry of mystery

Await my eager curiosity.

Oh, beautiful, limitless awesomeness

Wait for me and my chariot

My vessel of dauntless build,

A fragile and humble

Means to reach out and touch you

Your nebulous star scape,

Your galaxies and worlds

That I might know your creation

And embrace my destiny!
