A.H. Browning

Did I Ever

Did I ever really know you
You would say that I did not
But the years we spent together
Your mastered talents, your poet’s heart

You’ve gone and left a baron space
That no one can remotely fill
Time might help some reconcile
But my heart has lost both grace and will

I know you in my selfish way
Despite the fact you do not share
With awe, respect and humble revere
Of talent I hold most true and dear

Please forgive if I presume
I only want to let you know
In life you were such a brilliant light
But now we all must let you go

Thank you, and I don’t give a damn
If you can’t accept that I must say it
Even though we never once crossed paths
My life is filled with they way you played it

Thank you
Miss you
Remember you
Peace to you
