For Rabbie (to the rhythm of \"Auld Lang Syne\")

Right now, my friends, I’d like to toast,

To a bard, from times gone by,

From Alloway, he wrote his song,

That’s good auld lang syne.

He kept; dear Jean Armour warm,

To make their happy nine,

A bright example to look on,

While we sing auld lang syne.

Franz and Ludwig, loved him so,

His words, with them, did chime,

Throughout the world, his name was known,

With the bars of auld lang syne.

His influence, gave birth to scribes,

With their styles, their thanks; implied,

From William and Samuel,

Here’s to auld lang syne.

You’ve done dear Bill and Agnes proud,

Re-join them in the sky,

In warm embrace, you happy few,

To the tune of auld lang syne.

I myself, have Scottish blood,

So, I feel that you’re part mine,

I hope this piece, does find you well,

Good sir; of auld lang syne.
