What I Thought I Had

The walls are closing in,
and you\'re my window out.

The dress you wore
swishes, wind through
a garden at dawn,
the perfect backdrop for
the image of you in my head.

Hair like a blanket over my chest
comforts me when I\'m too far
for comfort.

You bring me back to earth,
my phone home when I\'m alone.

The stars are brighter when
We\'re looking out my sunroof
together, you holding my
once, still, trembling hand.

What would have fallen as tears
Rises as contemplations, tears
through the ever fading screen
before us.

Think! I delay, discount, the
future... I have no plans,
I\'ve sold my plane tickets,
and use that gold, to spend
The day
With you.
