β€οΈ 𧑠π π π π π€Mary Jones: The First Transgender Sex-Worker in Historyβ€οΈ 𧑠π π π π π€
“Millions of stars
Moon is one of them.
Billions of people
You were unique.
Your birth was unique.
Are you born into a slave family?
You were given the gender of a boy when you were born.
You grow as a girl.
Your parents named you Peter Sewally.
You became Mary Jones.
Reading you is the greatest pleasure of my life.
You were not ahistorical.
You are history.
I’m reading you as a slave.
I\'m reading you as a black transgender-woman.
I\'m reading you as a vulnerable human being.
I\'m reading you as a sex worker.
I\'m reading you as a dehumanized human being.
Reading you as a historical necessity.
Reading you as the first visible transgender woman in history,
Reading from you made my mind beautiful.
Dominant historiography labeled you as a prostitute or thief
The word \"prostitute\" itself is a derogatory word.
You were a sex-worker.
You were selling your body.
Your body, your choice.
You were not a killer.
You were not a rapist.
You were not a paedophile.
You were serving society.
Serving and living
You were not sucking the blood of millions of slaves.
You were not raping millions of slave women.
You were not chaining millions of slaves.
You weren\'t sucking millions of proletariats\' blood.
You were one of the Tom Uncle cabins.
You were a slave toy.
You were a slave, a transgender woman.
How many historical identities have you inherited?
A slave identity
A black identity
A trafficked identity
Slaves are trafficked by dominant races.
Millions of African-Americans were trafficked.
Millions of blacks were displaced.
Millions of blacks were enslaved.
Millions of black people have been trafficked.
A transgender identity
A sex-worker identity
Sex work is work
We are selling our bodies
We are not human trafficking
Why should we shame when they don’t feel shame for their slavery?
Why should we shame when they don’t feel shame for their racist ideology?
Why should we shame when they don’t feel shame for their casteist ideology?
Why should we shame when they don’t feel shame for their untouchability practice?
Why should we shame when they don’t feel shame for their gender ideologies?
These are the social realities of our times
You are living in my times
Having a slave is not a crime.
Practicing slavery is not a crime.
Raping a slave is not a crime.
Killing a slave is not a crime.
Ontologically, wounding a slave is not a crime.
But stealing money is a crime in a racist society.
In Asia-Pacific, we share similar ideologies.
You were ontologically wounded.
Not because you were a sex-worker.
Not because you were a thief.
But
Because you were black
You were persecuted, humiliated, and ontologically wounded in court.
Because of your black and transgender identity,
If you were a white prostitute,
If you were a white thief,
If you were a Brahmin prostitute,
If you were a Brahmin thief,
Your identity in history would have been documented differently.
Our black skin
Our caste
Our slavery
Our services
Our vulnarability
Our genders are juxtaposed with their imaginations.
Still, today, our Wikimedia article branded you as a prostitute and a thief.
But still, today
Racist history accuses you of being a prostitute or thief.
The racist judiciary laughed at your attire.
Racist audience humiliated you in court.
Racist ideology imprisoned you for petty theft.
Our life
Our status
Our humiliation
Our negative identities have not changed.
Their lives
Their status
Their laughs
Their thinking
Their humiliation
Their ideologies have not changed.
There is no historical change in our status.
There has not been much historical change in their status.
Our lives are constructed by them.
Our identities are constructed by them.
Our status is constructed by them.
Our genders are constructed by them.
As our Socrates Good Shepherd, Jacques Derrida, coined \"deconstruction.\"
We are deconstructing those historical forced constructions now.
You were not a prostitute but a sex-worker.
You were not a thief.
We will never be in the history of crimes against humanity.
However,
They are those who practice discrimination based on race, caste, gender, or untouchability.
They are crimes against humanity.
We are re-writing our historical derogatory identities now.
We are re-writing our trajectories.
Rest in peace, my first historical transgender friend.
Rest in power, my angel.”
