All That She Lost

The fragments of the moon began to take the place of the sun’s rays.

As the last ray was captured by the darkened sky she heard the collusion

of the vast towers that circled her.

Everything she had worked so hard to create was crumbling reflecting what

She felt inside.

She felt too many emotions at one time.

Red hot rage was the strongest among them.

She had been betrayed.

She had been fed a foolish tale and she allowed herself to put her guard down.

Now all that she believed that birthed these towers were wracked with destruction just like her.

She hated the naked form that she became.

Vulnerability is not a friend had been taught to her by her father.

A glint of glass caught her notice.

She picked it up and saw her reflection of grief.

Grief was such a dishonest word for what she felt.

Yet she couldn’t even comprehend a word that described what she felt inside.

She stood still as a statue chilled from the bone in her naked form.

She was paralyzed as she took in the destruction around her.

Silent tears fell and she thought she might be suffocating inside.

She felt invisible warmth wrapped around her.

She knew her guardian angels were right behind her.

She closed her eyes, taking a deep breath.

Like her nana taught her she was never alone.

She could get through this.

She would not live but thrive from this.

She mustered every bit of strength she

had left and walked away from all that she lost.
