Saxon Crow

Skylark

It is the nature of man

To put himself first

To make sure he lives

While not caring who hurts

To destroy all he sees

Assuming it\'s his

To fulfill empty needs

To survive at all costs

And in so doing

He blinds himself so

His heart falls deaf

To the words in his soul

And the consequence

Borne of these greedy acts

Is the fear from all others

Who run while they can

And nothing encapsulates

This more than what I have seen

When the farmer ploughed over

The life from the land

For murder took place

Only today

Of the skylarks nesting

Just down the way

And where I go walking

I shall hear no more

The twitter of skylarks

Alive in the morn
